So hard to chose just 10 of our favorite moments from the first week of school... #shabatshalom
“My Jewish Calendar” is up on our Teachers Pay Teachers! This activity is an excellent way for children to become familiar with the Hebrew calendar and special days throughout the year! Because we love you, we included two different activities in it- 1. Setting up the calendar (by matching the calendar dates to a control calendar) and 2. assembling your own paper calendar. We’ve also included both the 5779 and 2018-2019 calendars. (And if you’re a Chabad school, we made one that includes all of the Chabad special days). Kudos to @gavi_gold for creating this work!
Thinking about your classroom set up? Take lesson from our Morah’s, especially Morah @gavi_gold. This amazing teacher went on a trip to Peru, and all she thought about was her students. What you might see as “tschatchkees”, Gavi sees as little beautiful things her students are going to love to touch, hold, and respect— what they’ll want to take off the shelves and what would inspire their learning. Buying your classroom supplies doesn’t have to be expensive, it has to be thoughtful. Hit up your local thrift stores! Any kitchen store! @worldmarket! @flyingtigerusa! And just think about what would catch a child’s eye. Think about what will #ignitethespark! (Check out the instastory to See how she plans to use all of this stuff in her classroom!) #lamplighterssummer #itstartswithone #teacherprep

At Grandparents Day yesterday, we handed out little "nachas notes" for the grandparents to write a special message to their grandkids. One grandparent wrote this line in her note, and I thought it really encapsulated what we were all feeling yesterday: “I wish I had a classroom like yours to go to every day. You are so lucky.” Me too, Safta Jaffe. Me too. (Here are just some of my favorite moments from yesterday--professional shots by @chaimperlstudios coming soon!) #ignitethespark #roots #lamplightersmoments #itstartswithone #nachasmoment
Aaaand it’s up on our Teachers Pay Teachers page! Check out this amazing Shavuos sorting activity— it’s a great visual for a Shavuos lesson, a conversation starter about the customs of Shavuos, and obviously kids can use this independently to reinforce everything you taught them :) And obviously it’s got the control of error element. And obviously it’s got a teeny tiny little shopping cart that kids are obsessed with. You get the point. Go download the file ASAP.
Love our model? Thinking about joining the Lamplighters community? Interested in Lamplighters for your child? The only way to know for sure is to come and see us in action. We’re hosting a preschool open house tour this Tuesday— join us! Rsvp by visiting www.lamplightersyeshivah.org/tour
